PEOPLE who suffer from mental health problems should find it easier to get the help they need without feeling afraid, thanks to a lottery-funded project.
Wellness Works, part of Living Well West Midlands, is a BIG Lottery funded initiative, which will help people in Worcestershire turn to the right people when experiencing mental or emotional problems.
Findings from research by Wellness Works showed that people accessed support from a variety of sources. Through partnership with Worcestershire Mental Health NHS Trust, Wellness Works has updated the local resource pack on mental health support services, providing useful contacts in Worcestershire’s mental health sector.
For people coping with a mental illness it provides details of non-medical mental health assistance such as finance, education and employment. The pack is ideal for those individuals who are seeking help as well as health professionals and employers.
Amanda Wright, business adviser health and wellbeing at Wellness Works, said: “I am really pleased that Wellness Works has been given the opportunity to collate all this vital information for the Worcester Mental Health Trust. I feel that the people who can benefit most, are those who fear being diagnosed when they suspect they could have a mental illness.”
Wellness Works is a programme of free business advice, education and training for employers across Worcestershire. It exists to provide support and to promote positive emotional and mental well-being in the workplace.
