A RIVERSIDE town could be showing signs of economic recovery as a new shop opens.
Upton-upon-Severn has held out against the worst of the recession despite losing five shops in the past year, according to Peter Webb, chairman of the town’s trade and tourism association.
Upton depends on tourism to keep its High Street alive and has managed to keep head above water this year despite tough trading conditions.
A new shop is now opening at No 24 Old Street at 11.30am, on Saturday October 31 - called No 24.
The upmarket gift shop is a step in the right direction added Mr Webb.
“In the current climate, we’ve had five shops close which is not bad compared to the national picture. It’s great to see a new store opening.”
