A BROTHER and sister are celebrating after winning an art competition in your Worcester News.
This newspaper teamed up with stationery store Staples to run the competition in August. We asked youngsters to tell us what they wanted to be when they grew up and draw pictures of themselves as grown-ups.
Staples also invited children to bring in their unwanted good quality pens and pencil cases, which could then be donated to the charity READ International, which sorts and ships them to school children in Africa.
The judges were impressed with siblings Sarah and Matthew Carstairs whose drawings were not only creative, but stood out from the crowd. Seven-year-old Sarah drew a picture of herself as a ballerina, while six-year-old Matthew drew a picture of himself as a policeman.
The pupils from St Joseph RC Primary School, Worcester, have now been presented with their prizes – their very own award-winning designs printed on canvas.
