A HIGH school student could follow in the footsteps of the likes of JRR Tolkien and Terry Pratchett after putting the finishing touches to his second novel, aged just 18.

Daniel Hart, from Pinvin, near Pershore, is about to release The Star of Tamathiel, the sequel to his first book, Tamathiel, a fantasy adventure about five children transported to another world to do battle with the forces of evil.

He said: “The plot is based on a search for a series of artefacts which can be used to defeat the two remaining dark lords who have begun to attack the Earth.

“While they still have a quest to do, there is more interplay between the characters.

“The battles in this book take place not just between armies of good and evil in both worlds, but also within the characters as they battle the forces of darkness within themselves.”

The Star of Tamathiel is part of a trilogy and has taken Daniel, who hopes to go on to study English at university, a year-and-a-half to write. He hopes it will be out by Christmas.

Pershore High School head teacher Clive Corbett said: “It’s wonderful that Daniel is able to find time to write as well as complete his school work, and we are all very proud of him.”
