IT is not often that a Worcestershire musician provides the soundtrack to one of Channel 4’s most popular shows.

But for Malvern singer songwriter Sam Isaac, whose intelligent pop songs embody the angst of growing up, it is part and parcel of the day job.

Three of Isaac’s songs have been featured on the BAFTA nominated sitcom The Inbetweeners, which follows the highs and lows of sixth formers struggling through their teenage years.

The tracks, one of which has been chosen for the soundtrack album, were put forward by his publisher.

“I was super lucky in that the guys making The Inbetweeners liked my music enough to include it on the show,” said an ever-modest Isaac.

“It was totally exciting for my track to be on television. Very funny too, because it kicks in after a really obscene conversation between the characters.

“Plus it’s a brilliant way for new people to hear my music, and a lot of people checked me out after I was first on the show. Hundreds of thousands of people watch The Inbetweeners, so it was a really great opportunity for me.”

While Isaac, who now lives in London, has plans to play in Worcester later this year he is also been working alongside bandmate Burt Hill on their Sorry About My Golf Clubs club nights.

The next show is at the Firefly in Lowesmoor on Friday, November 6 and will bring alt-rock pop band Tubelord to Worcester music lovers.

Having spent the last few years touring with everyone from Johnny Foreigner to Tellison, Tubelord are set to hit the mainstream with their intricate brand of jagged guitar riffing pop tunes.

Support will come from local group Tall Ships, who debut EP is due out in December, and Bewdley-based Riding Giants, and Hereford duo Muchuu.

Tickets for the show, priced £7 in advance from wegottickets.com, are £8 on the door. Over 18s only.

Your Worcester News has three copies of The Inbetweeners soundtrack to give away.

The album, due out next month, featuring songs from the likes of Cure (Inbetween Days) and The Jam (That's Entertainment), alongside the Maccabees (Latchmere and About Your Dress), the Rumble Strips (Girls and Boys in Love) and Sam Isaac.
