A COUPLE from Leigh Sinton, near Malvern, have urged people to have their pets microchipped after being reunited with their lost dogs thanks to the technology.

Andy Bell was walking Luis and Wispa in fields near to their home a week ago, when the two bolted.

His wife Debbie said: “We don’t know if they saw a rabbit or if something spooked them, but they were off, just like that.”

Mr and Mrs Bell spent the rest of the day searching for the dogs but to no avail.

Luckily they were found that evening by the owner of Byfield Kennels at nearby Storridge.

The next morning, they were taken to Best Friends vets in Malvern Link. Vet Jon Slattery identified them thanks to the implanted microchips.

Mrs Bell said: “If it wasn’t for the microchips, who knows if we’d ever have seen them again?

“I’d advise any pet owner to make certain they get their pets chipped.”
