HAVE you ever dreamt of packing up your belongings and starting a new life far away from home?
Trestle Theatre Company has, and next week the group will bring its brand new production to The Courtyard in Hereford. The Glass Mountain tells the hopeful, heartfelt story of Olek, a Polish baker who boards a bus for England and finds himself on a much bigger journey than he bargained for.
The new production weaves together the Polish fable The Glass Mountain with contemporary stories of migration and features music inspired by Eastern European traditions.
Artistic director Emily Gray hopes the story has relevance today.
She said: “Our journey began with my interest in finding a meeting point between the enormously respected theatre companies in Poland and the struggles experienced by recent Polish migrants to England.
“It is thrilling to be working with performers who come from the intense physical and vocal training of Polish theatre and together we hope to find humour, playfulness and contemporary relevance in an old Polish myth.”
The show is staged at 7.30pm on Wednesday, October 21.
