A 39-year-old man was arrested twice within the space of 24 hours for being drunk and disorderly.
Simon Kane was arrested for swearing and being abusive inside and outside an address in Severn Terrace, Worcester, last Saturday night.
Then, about 11 hours later, and having been released from police custody, officers were called to Worcestershire Royal Hospital to find Kane acting in a similar manner towards doctors, nurses and patients.
Kane, of Henwick Road, St John’s, Worcester, pleaded guilty to two charges of being drunk and disorderly when he appeared before the city’s magistrates.
Lisa Mayne, prosecuting, said neighbours heard banging and screaming from inside an address in Severn Terrace on Saturday night.
“Officers arrived and spoke to the defendant who raised his voice in the street,” she said. “The police told him to go home but he refused to do so.”
Mrs Mayne said Kane then swore at one of the officers so he was arrested.
The following day officers were called to the hospital following reports that Kane was “kicking off” in the back of an ambulance.
“They could clearly see he was drunk at the time,” said Mrs Mayne.
She said Kane, who had about five previous convictions for being drunk and disorderly, shouted and swore at doctors, nurses and patients before he was arrested.
In mitigation Paul Stanley said Kane had been in a relationship which had “not been going well” causing his client to drink again.
He added Kane did not remember a great deal about either incident nor how he had received a nasty gash to the side of his head after being released from custody for the first offence.
Magistrates said the 15 hours Kane had served in custody since the second arrest would count as time served for one of the offences.
The defendant was fined £75 for the other offence, was made to pay £85 court costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
