PEOPLE in Droitwich should be wary of suspicious cash machines after one was tampered with by criminals.
Three people who had their cash cards ‘swallowed’ by a Barclays bank cash dispenser in Victoria Square, Droitwich, had substantial amounts of cash withdrawn from their accounts.
The first incident took place on Saturday, October 3, followed by two more on Saturday, October 10.
Warning people to be wary a West Mercia Police spokesman said: “There is definitely some sort of pattern relating to cards being temporarily retained at this cash-dispenser, followed by thefts of cash, and we urge anyone using it to double-check for any tell-tale marks that it may have been tampered with.”
Anyone with information, including witnesses who may have seen people acting suspiciously at the cash-point, is urged to call police on 0300 3333000.
Information can also be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
