A SAUSAGE-eating competition will raise funds for the Worcestershire Breast Unit Campaign.
The competition is scheduled to take place at the Red Hart pub in Cockshot Lane in Kington, just off the A422 between Worcester and Inkberrow.
The pub is inviting teams to “sausage off” at 7pm on Wednesday, October 21, to raise money towards the £2.5 million dedicated unit at Worcestershire Royal Hospital in Worcester. Your Worcester News has adopted the campaign to raise money for a dedicated unit at 220 Newtown Road because the existing facilities can be cramped and clinical.
The various clinics for breast patients are also spread out within the main hospital which means patients have to wait longer for assessment and some parts of the breast care service can lack privacy, particularly the fitting of a prosthesis after surgery which takes place behind a curtain in a busy office.
The fund-raiser teams compete against the clock to eat the two-foot sausages, which have been donated by a local butcher.
Pennie Hollingsworth, a volunteer for the campaign, said: “It is a hilarious night out and all the money goes to charity.”
Entry costs £30 for a team of five. To register a team, call 01386 792559.
