THE death of a dog found with weights tied around its neck and dumped in the canal is still under investigation.
The black Staffordshire Bull Terrier dog was found face down in the Worcester & Birmingham canal on Thursday, September 24, close to bridge 18.
Scars found on its body show it could have been involved in illegal fighting.
It was discovered by a passing dog-walker who contacted your Worcester News to highlight the grisly find.
The RSPCA which has been investigating the dog’s death said it was continuing to work on a number of leads.
An RSPCA spokeswoman said: “Inspectors are pursuing several lines of enquiry, as we would for any investigation.
“We are still investigating the case and liaising with the police.
“We would continue to ask anyone with information to call the RSPCA cruelty and advice line on 0300 1234 999.”
Following our report on the dog’s death in September, several names were passed to the newspaper which have been forwarded to investigators.
