POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man was robbed and assaulted on the Malvern Link Common.

The attack happened at about 8.20pm on Saturday when the victim was surrounded by a group of five males and females near Worcester Road.

The five came from a larger group of around 20, the remainder of which looked on as the man was kicked and punched.

Fortunately the victim, who has not been identified, did not require hospital treatment.

Appealing for help a police spokesman said: “There were a considerable number of people around at the time and we hope that someone will recall seeing something of this incident or members of the group before or afterwards.

“There may also be members of the large group of young people who watched the incident who feel strongly enough to come forward with information.”
