CHILDREN from a primary school near Worcester have been helping a bike mechanic prepare for a fun-packed cycling day.

Rushwick village green will host the two-wheeled extravaganza on Sunday.

Experts from Motov8 will be providing free bike repairs all day and there will be cycle training sessions by Malvern Cycle Club for adults and children.

The Playscape Cycling day runs from 10am to 3pm and also features BMX racing, a Kiddies on Wheels treasure hunt and junior and family races.

To prepare for the event, cycle technician0 Kevin Sargeant from Motov8 visited Rushwick Primary School to help get pupils bikes in tip-top shape for the day.

Motov8 is a charity which aims to increase education and social awareness among young people by channelling their energy into educational courses based on the mechanics of cars, motorcycles and bicycles.

Motov8 also run a cycle shop at the University of Worcester which is open every Wednesday, from noon to 2pm, on the university’s St John’s campus.

It gives students, staff and the public the opportunity to buy refurbished bicycles and accessories.
