QUICK-thinking midwives have been praised after delivering a baby in the hospital car park.
The mum-to-be, who was in the advanced stages of labour, arrived at Worcestershire Royal Hospital in the early hours of Sunday morning.
A spokesman for the hospital said: “The delivery suite was alerted by security and a team of midwives and a doctor met the lady in the car park and delivered the baby safely.
“Mum and baby spent the night at WRH and were able to go home on Monday morning.
“Our midwives are highly trained and are used to responding quickly to the needs of women in labour.
“By reacting quickly and calmly they were able to make sure that the lady and her newborn child were transferred safely and quickly to the delivery suite and well cared for.”
The spokesman said the mother and her family had requested to remain anonymous.
