WORCESTER’S mayor was led through the city blindfolded to experience what it is like for people who have lost their sight.
As part of World Sight Day, Andy Roberts was guided 300 metres (328 yards) through the city centre by volunteers from Worcestershire Association for the Blind.
The event was sponsored by Specsavers to encourage people to have their eyesight and eye health checked.
“It was really disorientating,” said Councillor Roberts.
“I know that route really well but it was difficult with a blindfold on.
“When the photographer said move to the left a bit I did not know he was talking to me because I could not see him. I could take the blindfold off but there are people who cannot do that.”
The charity supports people throughout the county to deal with sight loss. To find out more visit wabsight.org.uk.
