OUR Buy Local campaign has received a fantastic response from the people of Worcestershire since it launched last week. Local independent businesses from across the county are queuing up to display our Buy Local, Buy Here posters in their windows. In fact, we’ve now had so many requests for posters that we have now made them available for download from our website – you can find them at worcesternews.co.uk/buylocal.
Meanwhile, our readers have been telling us about their favourite local retailers and why they use them.
To recap, our campaign’s aims are simple. We think local independent businesses – shops, restaurants, farm shops, markets and the like – are suffering the most during the recession. The best way to help them is to spend your money with them.
Buying local is good for the community and good for the environment.
From today you can help spread the Buy Local message with one of our free eco bags. We have 5,000 of the jute bags to give away thanks to the support of Worcestershire, Malvern Hills, Worcester and Wychavon councils and Broadway-based eco bag supplier Jutexpo.
Getting your free bag could not be easier. Just cut out the coupon printed on page 14 of today’s Worcester News and hand it in at any of the retailers stocking the bags. We’ll be printing the voucher every day while stocks last.
The bags are a free gift for our readers and a great way of spreading the Buy Local word.
We look forward to seeing them carried by shoppers across the county.
