STOURPORT Swifts will look to put some more breathing space between themselves and the bottom teams in British Gas Business Division One Midlands tomorrow.

The Walshes Meadow outfit entertain fellow strugglers Woodford United (3pm) and victory for Neil Hunt’s men could see them pull eight points clear of the bottom two.

Swifts have picked up six points in their last two outings with a crushing 5-2 win at Barton Rovers before seeing off county rivals Malvern Town last weekend with a 2-1 success.

Although the New Year’s Day clash with Bromsgrove Rovers was frozen off, Hunt will be confident his side can finally start to pull away from the division’s bottom teams.

However, the game against Woodford will be a tricky clash given the visitors’ recent upturn in form — they have only lost once in their last five games.

Meanwhile, Bromsgrove need a victory to stop their current slide and face a long, tricky trip to Bury Town tomorrow (3pm).

The Suffolk outfit beat Rovers 1-0 on the opening day of the season and Rod Brown’s men are trying to avoid a third successive defeat.

Last Saturday, Bromsgrove lost 2-0 at runaway leaders Leamington and the inconsistency of the Victoria Ground men will be a huge concern for Brown.

Before their defeats at Dunstable and Leamington, Rovers won three games in a row and Brown will be hoping that the trip to the Ram Meadow can be the catalyst for another winning run.
