A COMMUNITY first responder fears he will be unable to attend urgent medical call-outs because of flooding problems on a road near his home.
Mark Hale said every time there was heavy rain, the A443 between Witley Court and Great Witley village becomes impassable.
He is now urging the highways authority to take action before it leads to tragedy.
“It’s ridiculous,” said Mr Hale, who lives at Hillhampton, near Great Witley. “Every time there is a bit of heavy rain the road floods and it’s virtually impossible to get through the village.
“I have been a community first responder for three years and fortunately nothing bad has happened yet and I can’t get out.
“But we can get called out at anytime so it needs sorting out before it causes a major problem.”
“If I can’t get through in a jeep because of the poor state of the roads then there is no chance an ambulance can get through,” he said.
Mr Hale, who is a self-employed carpenter, has complained to Worcestershire County Council about the flooding problem at Great Witley, and about large potholes along the A443 at Holt Heath, which have since been filled in.
“There were just massive pot holes everywhere and they just cover it up with a bit of tarmac,” he said. “One of these days there is going to be an accident.”
A spokesman for Worcestershire County Council said: “It is a county council priority to maintain and improve our highways. We are currently investigating the drainage issue on the Great Witley road following recent flooding.
“We have also filled in the potholes that had appeared in Holt to make the road safe and are looking to carry out full repair works shortly.”
