THE search is on for the most electrifying Christmas lights display in Worcester.

Whether your house is lit up like a Christmas tree, shines as brightly as Rudolph’s nose or resembles a snowman’s paradise, your Worcester News needs to hear from you.

But you need to get your pictures in quick. The competition ends on Wednesday, December 17.

Today we feature former DJ Pete Challenger, of Monks Close, Pershore, who has been giving his neighbours a festive thrill for 15 years.

It was while he was spinning the decks that Pete, aged 50, came up with the idea of festooning his house in an array of colourful decorations to bring a warm glow to neighbours and visitors alike.

He said: “I started off putting fairy lights around a board covered in mirror tiling and it just escalated from there.

“Over the years it has become a bit of an attraction around here and every year people ask me when the lights are going to be switched on.”

Pete receives many seasonal tributes from visitors to his brightly-coloured house but the biggest fan of all is grandson Tee-jay, aged four, who knows Santa Claus is coming to town when the big switch-on takes place each year on December 1.

New attractions this year in the Pershore Yuletide paradise include an inflatable Santa.

Last year many a stunning light show was put forward for this fantastic festive competition sponsored by Webbs Garden Centre in Wychbold, Droitwich.

We want to see the best, biggest and brightest displays south Worcestershire has to offer, but time is fast running out.

All readers have to do is send in photos of their home/garden illuminations to the Worcester News as soon as possible, or we can send our photographers out to take pictures.

The overall winner will receive a light decoration worth £100 and additional £100 Webbs vouchers which they can use to enhance their impressive display.

The two runners-up get a £50 Webbs voucher each.
