STAFF from a Worcester company have helped to raise more than £100,000 for charity.

There were celebrations in the offices of npower at Berkeley Business Park, Warndon, when staff heard that the company would be making its biggest donation to date – £108,000 – to its charity partner, Macmillan Cancer Support.

This was all thanks to the efforts of members of staff who supported the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning in September and match funding by the company.

As in previous years, there were activities taking place across all npower sites but this year, staff raised £54,000 though fairs, fetes, baking cakes – decorating and selling them – tea trolley dashes, fancy dress and games.

The efforts were praised by Macmillan. Emily Leggett, the organisation’s account manager, said: “This is a fantastic achievement. Thank you to everyone at npower for this absolutely staggering contribution. I cannot express how much of a difference this will make to the lives of the people we help.

“To give you an idea, £105,333 would fund one of Macmillan’s new rehabilitation support teams for a whole year.

“The teams are based in the community and provide a range of rehabilitation support, such as physiotherapy and advice on diet, to people who are living with cancer.”
