Keeping yourself busy over Christmas and New Year Yes, it’s that time of year again! Christmas has come, meaning we can sit around pigging out on lots of chocolate and watching numerous Christmas specials and films, which are usually repeats anyway. And like most teenagers, you can’t be dealing with Christmas shopping, helping mum cook the Christmas dinner or lending a hand to Dad putting up the Christmas tree.

So to help you try and avoid those things, here is a list of what you can do over Christmas and New Year to keep yourself busy- and trust me, you won’t be bored after you put all of these into action!

  • If you’re stuck for things to do, you could always browse the Christmas mobile phone brochures, to decide which phone you want this year. Do you want 600 free texts? 400? Unlimited? (At least you won’t be out of credit again!)
  • Why not organize a party or see if you can get an invite to a mate’s Christmas or New Year’s Eve bash? At least you won’t have to stand around at your parent’s party, trying not to doze off whilst relatives talk to you about how the current recession isn’t as bad as when they were young! – How many times have I heard this before? But now I’m getting good at smiling and nodding at the right times in a conversation.
  • How about getting festive in the kitchen, and cooking either mince pies, Christmas cake, chocolate truffles…whatever you fancy!
  • Why don’t you and your mates get together and do a spot of carol singing around the neighbourhood, and earn some money for charity.
  • What about being festive and creative in your bedroom! Decorating it with tinsel, stars, Christmas ornaments…Oh perhaps not, I’ve got to tidy it first!
  • Why not write down your New Year’s Resolutions? Eat less chocolate, do more exercise, improve time keeping and organisation skills, help parents around the house, text less…Oh, I’ve just realised, these were last year’s resolutions!
  • If you’re stuck, and I mean, really stuck! You could always look for a job over the Christmas and New Year period - Maybe I’m not so bored after all!

So there you have it your Christmas and New Year survival guide, hope it doesn’t keep you too busy!
