AN air hostess is swapping high heels for hiking boots to raise money for Acorns Children’s Hospice.
Julie Sansome is gearing up to trek 75 kilometres through a mountainous hill tribe area of northern Vietnam.
She hopes to raise £3,000 for the charity in Bath Road, Worcester, which cares for children with life-limiting illnesses.
“A friend of mine had a child at the hospice and when I saw first hand the difference good hospice care could make to the lives of the whole family, I was convinced that this local charity deserves as much support as possible,” she said.
Miss Sansome, aged 46, from Bevere, near Worcester, is leaving for Vietnam in September next year. The British Airways employee is holding a series of fund-raising events to raise her target amount and has already started training for the walk.
“My job means that I am on my feet a lot of the time and that I could be awake and working for 17 hours a day or more,” she said.
“I am sure the lack of stamina won’t be a problem for me.”
