EIGHT vocalists sang their hearts out at St Mary’s School, Battenhall, Worcester, in a concert that raised more than £1,500 for charities.
Songs ranging from the driving rhythm of River Deep Mountain High and the soaring notes of Up Where We Belong, to the haunting Bring Him Home from Les Miserables, scored a hit with the audience, who gave the singers a standing ovation at the end of the evening. The concert, organised by Anne Bradshaw to raise money for the school, St Richard’s and Acorns hospices and Worcester Snoezelen, turned the spotlight on love in all its manifestations and included contemporary and classical music and songs from musical theatre.
While the singers’ brilliant rendition of River Deep, Mountain High rocked the school hall rafters, the audience also warmed to the beautifully arranged versions of songs such as Make Him Mine, All I Ask Of You, Love Changes Everything and Regresa a Mi.
Classical pianist Lucas Ball added a classical contribution to the concert, playing the second movement of Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto Number 2.
