AT the November meeting the members were greatly entertained by Catherine Clark. Her talk was entitled My Life and Hats.
During the evening she modelled some of the hats she hires out and kept us amused with many anecdotes of her experiences.
She began as a young girl as a trainee at Harrods in London. She worked her way through alterations, fitting and selling, and finally become a buyer.
After several different types of work, and once her family had grown up, she decided to branch out in business for herself. She started in a small way, but now has a large selection of hats for hire.
The members enjoyed modelling the selection she had brought with her. They ranged from small wedding fascinators, pill box types, small brimmed to large brimmed, plain or highly decorated.
Jean Heywood thanked Mrs Clark for a most enjoyable evening.
The next meeting of the guild will be on Thursday, January 15, at 7.30pm in Bromyard Road Methodist Church hall when Mr John Walton will give a talk entitled Peru. Visitors are most welcome to join us.
