IT was a pleasure to see Viv Jackman, newly-elected president, starting off this season’s meeting of Comer WI. She welcomed a good number despite several apologies because of ill health and some holidays.
Good wishes were given to four members celebrating birthdays and to Steph Chivers on becoming a grandmother. Viv also highlighted the new year programme. Members were reminded of the December Christmas party which would be on the 10th and also reaffirmed the date and time of a new year’s dinner arranged at Spires restaurant, a yearly event which was looked forward to by many.
The minutes and correspondence were read by Beryl Lord, secretary.
The president welcomed the speaker Miriam Tilt, who delighted the members with a demonstration of decoupage assisted by Jill Blackband.
Miriam gave a brief history of the craft, the equipment needed and how one could create beautiful artwork. It was a pleasure to see a talented craftsperson doing something she clearly enjoyed.
Beryl Lord gave a well earned vote of thanks and the evening ended with refreshments, a sale of decoupage items and the raffle.
New members and visitors always welcome.
