FOOTBALL fans in Worcester must have thought they were dreaming when the Barclays Premier League trophy was spotted in the city.
Young and old had their pictures taken with the silverware on display at Barclays’ refurbished branch in High Street yesterday.
Louis Dawn, aged seven, a pupil at St Barnabas CE Primary School, was starstruck after his father Mathew Dawn took him in to have a closer look at the league’s elite trophy.
Mr Dawn, from a family of Nottingham Forest supporters, said: “We just saw it as we were passing by, it’s absolutely wonderful.”
Football mad Paul Bullock, of Warndon, and two-yearold son Jake Bullock did not want to miss an opportunity for a picture with the trophy wearing their matching Liverpool football club shirts.
Bank staff were buzzing with excitement after it was announced the trophy would be coming to their branch to mark the branch’s multimillion pound re-opening.
Sarah Verman, one of two branch managers, said: “Staff have worked very hard over the past few weeks so it was good to reward them.”
The three-floor branch has been fitted with modern personal and business banking desks, a commerical banking section and selfservice points for people to manage accounts and make payments and withdrawls.
