GOLD medal rower Zac Purchase has yet another accolade to his name.
The 22-year-old former King’s School, Worcester, pupil was named BBC Midlands Sportsman of the Year at a glittering ceremony on Sunday.
Mr Purchase, who scooped gold in the lightweight double scull at the Beijing Olympics this summer, started rowing at Upton Rowing Club when he was 13-years-old and recently returned to help raise an Olympic flag.
Last month, he visited his old school to see a brand new rowing boat named in his honour.
Winner of the coveted Sports Personality of the Year award was 14-year-old paralympic double-gold medal winner Eleanor Simmonds, from Aldridge.
