FROGS, snakes, and heartfelt wishes made out of recyclable materials were all hung from the trees in a city park at the weekend.
Children and adults braved the cold snap yesterday to take part in the Friends of Cripplegate Park’s annual tree dressing event.
Members of the Worcester Archive Source Project were also on hand to showcase some interesting documents and gave youngsters a chance to learn the stories behind some of the children who lived in the city hundreds of years ago.
Friends’ joint chairman Roy Davies said: “This is to show our presence in the park and that even though it’s winter there is still activity going on.
“It’s to let people know the park is being used and children are prepared to participate in our events and create the things to hang in the trees.”
Friends’ member Annette Shaw, who made wishing leaves out of old milk cartons for people to write their own messages on, said she was surprised to see so many heartfelt messages on more than 200 leaves hanging from the tree. “It just shows that even when times are tough people are always thinking of others and I’m really impressed with it,” she said.
