HELP is at hand for Worcestershire residents wanting to get rid of green waste.
People living in Worcester and Wychavon can use the Shredderman service, which chips and shreds green waste, turning it into material that can be used again around the garden. Shreddings from branches and shrubs are useful as a mulch around plants and can help keep weeds down.
They are also an excellent compost ingredient as they provide a balance for other ingredients, like green leafy material and kitchen waste.
Derek Prodger, Worcestershire County Council cabinet member for the environment, said: “People who cut down tree branches up to four inches thick can have Shredderman turn them into useful mulch for the garden. Customers are often surprised by how much garden waste can be reduced in volume by shredding.
“Many of our customers are regulars who really appreciate the value of shredded garden waste as a resource.”
Appointments with an experienced operator using a large wood chipping machine, can be made in either the morning or afternoon.
A one-hour visit costs £15.75, with payment by debit or credit card. To book, call 0845 6021939 9am and 3pm, Monday to Friday.
