A CHEESEMONGER from Barnards Green, Malvern, is enjoying a business boom by selling cheese over internet auction site eBay.
Andrew Brooks, of the Cheeseboard, has taken orders from all over the UK, as well as Norway, Germany, Spain, Greece and Sicily, and has seen trade grow steadily over the last four months.
Mr Brooks recently received his most unusual order to date, from a local man who will be spending this Christmas working in Addis Adiba, the capital of Ethiopia.
“He was desperate for some English cheese for Christmas to remind him of home so I packed him off some local cheese, cheddar and some lovely blue stilton,” he said.
“Eight days later he had received it and he left me fantastic feedback.
“Now he can’t wait for Christmas to enjoy the cheese.
“It’s so nice to think I’ve made someone so happy who is so far away at Christmas time.”
Mr Brooks is delighted with the response he has had since he started selling cheese online.
“It’s quite unusual. There is the odd farm out there that sells its own cheese but as far as I’m aware I’m the only one that offers a wide selection,” he said.
“I just thought it might work and I decided to give it a go. It has really started to snowball. I am seeing more and more trade, especially from abroad.”
