A CONTEMPORARY Christmas concert is set to raise money for under-privileged children.
Worcester singer Lexie Stobie, BBC Hereford and Worcester presenter Phil Simpson and the Christian singer-songwriter Nia Price from Herefordshire will take part in Emmanuel – A celebration of Christmas at St Paul’s Church, off City Walls Road, Worcester, on Saturday, December 13.
Mr Simpson held the first Emmanuel concert three years ago and last year raised almost £500 for Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Appeal. “Over the past few years I have been on a number of trips to help distribute boxes of toys and gifts, and it really does have a huge impact on these amazing kids and the communities in which they live,” said Mr Simpson, who added that the concert will be quite unique.
“There’s a real contemporary feel to this celebration of Christmas – quite different from the traditional service of Nine Lessons and Carols which you’ll find at many churches during Advent.
“It will feature a number of contemporary songs which highlight different aspects of the Christmas story, plus a few well-known carols.”
For tickets, priced £5 in advance and £6 on the door, call St Paul’s on 01905 22022. The Operation Christmas appeal supports children in Eastern Europe.
