A FUND-RAISING drive at Holy Trinity Church is hoping to raise £161,000 for major repair work.
The building in Link Top, Malvern, is more than 150 years old and structural repairs need to be made to its tower. The roof on the east side of the church also needs to be re-tiled.
A grant application has already been made to English Heritage but even if that is successful, it is only expected to contribute a maximum of half of the required funds. That is why church members are forming a steering group to discuss how the balance can be raised.
The Rev David Nichol said: “We have not done anything comparable to this in recent years for such a large sum of money.” If a grant is received from English Heritage then the remaining balance will have to be raised within 18 months.
The steering group will also be investigating what other grant funding may be available to help with the project.
Anyone who would like to get involved in the steering group can call Rev Nichol on 01684 561126 or e-mail david@trin ityandthewest.wanadoo.co.uk.
