VISITORS will have a chance to see the bells of Priory Church, Malvern, today.
The children of Malvern and the surrounding areas have been using their creative talents and contributing to the festive theme in the church.
The church has taken part in the town’s pre-Christmas celebrations for the past couple of years and this year invited local schools to join in by creating a festive artwork for an exhibition running until Thursday, December 18.
The youngsters of Malvern St James, Malvern Hills, Northleigh, St Matthias, Malvern Parish and Castlemorton Primary Schools and the Priory Allsorts Group of younger children have all produced Christmas banners and wreaths which are now being displayed in the church.
Church member and one of the exhibition organisers Ann Oldfield said: “We are absolutely delighted. They are wonderful. Some of the artworks are banners and some are wreaths.
“They are all varied and beautiful and a lot of work has gone into them.” The church is open every day from 9am to 5pm but, as part of the town’s Christmas festivities, there are free refreshments available to anyone visiting the church today and Saturday December 13 between 10am and 4pm.
“We have had a lot of people coming in and they are welcome to come and see the banners and wreaths on other days,” said Mrs Oldfield. She said visitors can also get an opportunity to see the ringing chamber housing the church bells today and will be able to go up the tower and view Malvern and the surrounding areas from the top next Saturday.
The Priory Church will also be holding a Christingle service on December 24 at 4pm.
