WYCHAVON District Council’s deputy managing director has collected his MBE from the Queen for his work during last summer’s floods.
Vic Allison travelled to Buckingham Palace, London, to collect the medal.
“It was an honour to go to Buckingham Palace to collect my MBE and I proudly accepted it,” he said. “It was a very memorable day for me and my family and the recognition really does mean a lot.”
Mr Allison led Wychavon’s response to the devastating floods last summer. As a result of his leadership, the council set up rest centres for more than 800 stranded or homeless residents, distributed sandbags, and then played a key role in the clean-up operation.
