THE daughter of a terminally ill Worcestershire woman is running a marathon to raise money for St Richard’s Hospice.
Louise May plans to raise £5,000 for the Worcester hospice, which is caring for her mum Amanda May, when she runs the streets of Paris in April next year.
The 30-year-old who lives in London has started training and already raised £1,600.
“My mum was diagnosed with terminal cancer a few months ago and in keeping with her incredible spirit and strength one of her first thoughts in between radiotherapy sessions was of how she could give something back to the amazing people, including St Richard’s Hospice, who have provided, and continue to provide, support to our family,” she said.
“So I’m running the Paris marathon on behalf of my mum, in celebration of her life and to raise money for St Richard’s so that others can benefit from their help.”
Miss May wanted to thank the hospice in Wildwood Drive, Worcester, after her 51-year-old mother, from Lower Moor, near Pershore, started using the facilities.
“Sometimes it’s the little things that the hospice does that can make a big difference to how people cope with a tough situation,” she said.
