THERE is a feast of festive cakes on offer in Worcester to raise money for a hospice.
The ladies of the Droitwich Sugarcraft Guild have donated 40 cakes to the St Richard’s Hospice to be raffled or sold for the charity.
Tricia Cavell, hospice fund-raising manager, said: “The cakes are amazing – there are so many beautiful designs including festive scenes.
“We are very grateful to the ladies and their magnificent work, supporting the hospice by donating cakes annually for many years.
“Last year the cakes raised £1,500 and we are hoping to top £2,000 this year.”
St Richard’s Hospice, at Wildwood Drive, Worcester, contains an in-patient unit, day hospice, home care team, counselling and bereavement support, social work, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, complementary therapies, hospice at home, Snowdrop group, chaplaincy, 24-hour telephone support helpline and the education and resource centre.
The services are free and each year St Richard’s cares for in the region of 1,800 patients and families.
This year St Richard’s needs to raise £4.2 million to provide the services.
