A SPECTACULAR candle-lit concert is being held in Worcester next week to raise money for charity.
The city's cathedral will host the Spirit of Christmas carol concert on Friday, December 12, in aid of the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign, one of the cathedral’s chosen charities for the year.
Schoolboy Murray Field, who has muscular dystrophy, will open the service at 7.30pm by lighting the first candle and helping the cathedral congregation to light theirs.
The evening will include performances from children from Malvern Stage Coach, Duo Dulcetini and Birmingham barbershop chorus Second City Sound. Readings will include traditional Bible passages and more modern pieces. Special guests Pam Ayres and Dudley Russell will perform readings.
Last year’s Spirit of Christmas raised more than £4,000. That money and the money raised from this year’s service will help fund research, information and care for people with muscular dystrophy and other related conditions.
Tickets are available in the following price bands: gold £12.50; silver £10; bronze £7.50 Bronze and unreserved £5.
To book tickets call 01452 507106 from 9am to 1pm and 5pm to 8pm from Monday to Friday, or e-mail tickets@ muscular-dystrophy.org.
