FAMILY carers in Worcestershire are being invited to a special one-day event.

Worcestershire County Council’s carers’ unit, Worcestershire Association of Carers and Mencap will be holding the event for carers who provide support to a family member with a learning disability at St Peter’s Baptist Church, Eden Close, Worcester, from 10am until 3pm on Friday, December 5.

It is being organised to support Carers’ Rights Day.

Emma Bick, the council’s carer development officer for learning disabilities, said: “Carers’ Rights Day is a great opportunity to raise awareness of carers’ rights. It also gives carers the chance to gain information that may make a difference to their caring role.

“As this year’s theme is focused on Making the Most of Your Money, specialist speakers have been organised to talk about wills and trusts, benefits and personalisation.”

Carers are being urged to book a place for the event, which will include lunch, by calling 01905 728824.

People can find out more by calling the carers’ unit on 01905 728824 or Mencap on 01905 740500.
