There are so many gardening gifts out there this festive period to suit all pockets and tastes. It’s reassuring to see so many have been produced with eco-friendly materials, and designed with wildlife in mind.
Here, Hannah Stephenson selects four items which have caught her eye in the run-up to this Christmas
Glass Bird Feeder
For contemporary gardens, check out this stylish glass bird feeder.
Made of mouthblown glass, it would make a wonderful decorative feature and will soon find fans among small birds all year round. (£29.95, Natural Collection – shop.com).
All-in-one tool
If the man in your life needs to put up trellis, shelves in the shed, build a tree house for the kids or make a compost frame, he’ll need the right tools for the job. Bosch is claiming a world first with its launch of the Uneo, a cordless screwdriver, drill and rotary hammer all-inone tool. (RRP £119.99. Visit bosch-doit.
co.uk/diy/ or call 0844 7360107).
Yellow Book
A membership to the National Gardens Scheme’s new Friends programme would make the perfect Christmas gift, granting the recipient free access to beautiful gardens, while helping to raise money for charity.
For £10 for a year, Friends will receive a free copy of the famous Yellow Book, listing 3,600 mostly private gardens which open to the public every year. (Visit ngs.org.uk, e-mail friends@ngs.org.uk or call 01483 213910).
Gardener's Journals
These gorgeous gardener’s journals are made using genuine English leather, protected with a special waterrepellent finish so they can be used all year round. A practical gift for recording the seasons’ events in the greenhouse and garden, it comes complete with a refillable, bound, paper notebook.
(£29.50, fairwindonline.
