I’ve never really understood the fascination with painting one’s face. Fans do it all the time at sporting events to show which nation or nationality of player they are rooting for, not knowing that when they open their mouths – whatever colours they’ve used – they display a set of very unflattering yellow-looking teeth. These youngsters pictured in Edinburgh, earier this week, painted their faces blue and white in honour of the Scottish flag to celebrate free admission to the country’s historic sites on St Andrew’s Day, tomorrow. Their pose is said to represent the saltire – St Andrew’s cross. Nope. Can’t see it myself... just a lot of very yellow teeth.
