A VISIT from the Mayor of a Lithuanian city will take place today.
Mayor of Ukmerge, Algirdas Kopūstas will arrive in Worcester at noon and his stay will include visits to Blessed Edward Oldcorne Catholic College, a guided tour of the magistrates court, Worcester Porcelain and the Cathedral, along with a Mayor’s reception at the Guildhall.
Terry Coles from Worcester Twinning said: “We are so very pleased that the Mayor of Ukmerge and some of his colleagues are able to come to Worcester, albeit for a short weekend and so soon after we visited his town in May.
"We see the Mayor's visit to be the next step in establishing a formal twinning between Ukmerge and Worcester and are so glad to have the opportunity of reciprocating some of the overwhelming hospitality we received in Ukmerge when we visited them.”
The Twinning Association hopes Lithuanian citizens living in Worcestershire will be able to join them in the Guildhall today at 4pm.
