A CHARITY Christmas Card has been designed by a Worcestershire schoolgirl.
Money raised from the sale of the card, painted by 13-year-old Georgina Johnson, who attends Regency High School, will go towards the Malvern Special Families (MSF) charity, which helps about 100 families with children who have special needs in the county.
Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate for West Worcestershire Richard Burt originally had the idea for the card and decided to hold the design competition for young people who attended the charity’s half-term scheme at Malvern Hills Primary School.
He was able to find out more about MSF and their activity events it runs when he visited the school, which was threatened with closure.
Mr Burt said: “The school was pleased to take up the offer and we eventually selected Georgina’s picture of three snowmen because it was so bright, vibrant and colourful.
“Inside the card we have printed a paragraph about the work of MSF and details of how to make a donation by cheque or online.
“We will be printing 40,000 full-colour cards and donating 1,000 to MSF to sell to friends and family. The rest will be delivered to homes across West Worcestershire by volunteers and posted to rural areas.”
Mr Burt said: “I am delighted that MSF were able to take up my offer of help this year. They will be looking for new premises when Malvern Hills Primary School closes its doors at Christmas, so they deserve all the support from local people they can get.”
