ENGLISH Sats results rose by 16 per cent at a Worcester school, after the headteacher sent the papers back to be re-marked.
Neil Morris, of Christopher Whitehead Language College, said the first lot of results for 14 year olds gave the school a 54 per cent pass rate at level five and above, with some pupils given zero marks, for not sitting the exam, when they had, in fact, done so.
Mr Morris queried the results, which were sent out at the end of the summer term, and this week he received a new set, giving the school a 70 per cent pass rate at level five and above.
“The Sats were just a farce,” he said. “It was the third year we had sent them back because the results were clearly incorrect.
“Now they are much closer to what they should be.”
Last month the Government took the decision to scrap Sats tests for 14-year-olds, a decision Mr Morris applauded.
“I’m glad that this was the last time we have had to deal with the Sats,” he said. “And I’m glad that we ended on the right results.”
