TWO post offices in south Worcestershire have served their final customers and closed their doors for good.
Poolbrook Post Office in Malvern and Pinvin Post Office near Pershore closed yesterday.
It follows the announcement last month they would not be saved after the branches were earmarked for closure as part of national programme to reduce the number of branches by 2,500.
Sub postmistress at Pinvin, Gurleen Kaur Singh, said she had been crying all day.
“I have got two kids and I do not know where I am supposed to go, it is blank from now on.
“People are still coming in and thinking the post office is still open.
“We are trying our best to keep the shop open and we need the help of the villagers.”
Richard Burt, Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate for west Worcestershire, campaigned to save Poolbrook Post Office.
“It is a devastating loss for people in the community,” he said.
In August, Post Office Limited announced it was planning to close 10 branches in south Worcestershire.
A six week period of public consultation followed, and the final decisions were announced last month.
Not one of the branches earmarked for closure was saved.
The remaining branches will be closed between now and February.
