WORCESTER’S American twin pleased its English relation by holding a traditional tea party.
Residents of Worcester, Massachusetts, held a ceremony earlier this month to mark 100 years since they were given two half-suits of pikeman’s armour worn in the Battle of Worcester in 1651.
American mayor Konstantina Lukes hosted the tea party at the City Hall and more than 150 people watched as she opened a gift – a Worcester crystal – from the Mayor of Worcester, Councillor Lucy Hodgson.
The two Worcesters were twinned in 1999.
