A 13-YEAR-OLD Worcestershire boy is one step away from stardom after making it to the final of a national talent competition.
Alastair Webb, from Stockton on Teme, will sing at the national final of Idol 2008 on Saturday after beating thousands of other hopefuls in regional rounds.
A former pupil at Abberley Hall School, Great Witley, where he was head chorister, Alastair will now compete amongst the UK’s best in a bid to win the music, dance and singing competition.
“I am really looking forward to the final and hope I perform well – it is a fantastic opportunity for me,” said Alastair, who won a top music scholarship to Shrewsbury School, where he is now a pupil.
He will perform ‘Angels’ by Robbie Williams at the final, to be held at Portsmouth Guildhall.
If crowned the UK’s Idol 2008 he will win a recording contract, a chance to release a single and will be invited to join the UK Idol tour.
Now in its fourth year, the competition is one of the biggest talent competitions in the UK and provides competitors with the chance to impress judges and guests from record labels, agencies and the entertainment industry.
