BRIGHT sparks from Blessed Edward Oldcorne Catholic College in Worcester beat competition from more than 150 schools to make the shortlist for Becta’s national ICT Excellence Awards.
Becta, the government agency leading the use of technology in learning, organises the awards, which recognise and reward schools that have shown how technology can be imaginatively used to enhance lessons and school life.
Pupils at Blessed Edwards managed to impress the judges by showcasing their ideas and methods of incorporating technology into the heart of school life.
Niel McLean, Becta’s executive director for institutional workforce and development said: “It is wonderfully inspiring to see the enthusiasm which Blessed Edward Oldcorne Catholic College has invested into putting the technology at the core of everyday activities.”
But despite being unable to secure one of the awards at the ceremony on Thursday, November 6, headteacher Sean Devlin said he was very proud of the school.
“We were thrilled to be shortlisted. It’s a reflection of the dedication shown by our teachers and pupils to ensure we are a true 21st-century school.”
