The jury in the trial of a man accused of raping a Worcester woman in his parked car will today resume deliberations after failing to reach a verdict yesterday.

Udi Yamini claims the 30-year-old woman gave her consent to sex even though she was very drunk after leaving a city nightclub.

The prosecution at Worcester Crown Court alleges that a friend heard a sex attack after contact between the woman by mobile phone.

Yamini, aged 29, formerly of Hawkwood Crescent, St John's, Worcester, denies rape on May 3.

The woman suffered memory loss after leaving the club because of drink and medication for bipolar disorder.

In his final speech to the jury, prosecutor Jonas Hankin said medical evidence of injuries to the woman's private parts showed "significant force" was used.

Her friend overheard aggressive words from Yamini and crying before the woman was "overpowered".

Mr Hankin said Yamini's explanation that she got injured sitting on a pavement after he put her out of his car was laughable.

He claimed the defendant lied and tried to mislead the jury throughout the case.

Defence counsel Simon Burns said the friend may have misinterpreted what she heard on the phone.

He said a drunken woman still had the capacity to give her consent to sex.

Not once were the words "get off" or screaming heard from inside the car.

Mr Burns said the woman suffered from paranoid behaviour towards her husband.

Inside the club, where she'd gone to "let out some angst" after a domestic row, she and Yamini groped each other and she sat astride him on a sofa.

The trial continues.
