BEAUTIFUL hand-made quilts, bags and cushions went on sale in aid of charity in Worcester at the weekend.
The Sytchampton Stytchers, a sewing group from the village of Sytchampton, near Droitwich, held their second Christmas charity fair at the Guildhall, High Street, on Saturday, selling embroidered goods to raise money for the Children’s Society.
Organiser Pauline Ineson, a sewing teacher and co-founder of the Stytchers, hoped that they would raise more than £4,500, beating last year’s total.
She said: “We’ve been making items like Christmas quilts, ornaments, advent calendars and stockings for the past 18 months.
“We meet once a month at Sytchampton Community Hall and some of us will make things at home as well.
“A lot of hard work and craftsmanship goes in and it’s nice when people see that.”
Shoppers could also enter a raffle to be in with a chance of winning a lavish hand-made quilt, unique because each panel had been made by a different member of the Stytchers.
The Children’s Society is a national charity that supports youngsters who face danger, discrimination or disadvantage in their day-to-day lives.
