A JUDGE slammed a single mother for going out “night after night” and getting drunk while leaving her child at home.
Natalie Brown appeared at Worcester Magistrates Court where she admitted assaulting two doormen during a night out in Worcester.
Sentencing her to two months in prison, suspended for 18 months, district judge Bruce Morgan said: “The time to think about your child is before going out and getting drunk. Night after night you are out in Worcester getting drunk and behaving in this manner, when your child is at home. You obviously don’t care about your child.”
The court heard 21-year-old Brown, of New Street, Worcester, had been out in Lloyds bar in the city centre when she became involved in a fracas.
Adrian Jones, prosecuting, said: “Doorman Christopher Andrews received a radio message to attend one of the doors where another doorman was in dispute with a lady.”
Mr Jones said Brown was asked to leave but became aggressive and swung her handbag, hitting one of the doormen on the nose. She then removed one of her large hooped earrings and tried to scratch the man.
When police arrived and attempted to restrain Brown, she kicked out at Mr Andrews in the crotch, and then kicked out again, causing her shoe to fly off and hit him on the head.
The offence, committed in the early hours of Sunday, October 19, put Brown in breach of a conditional discharge for being drunk and disorderly in the city centre in March this year.
In mitigation, Rob Macrory said Brown was disgusted by her behaviour and was even too embarrassed to watch CCTV footage of the incident.
The judge sentenced Brown to two months in prison for each of the assaults, to run concurrently, and suspended for 18 months. She was also given a supervision order for nine months and a curfew between the hours of 7pm and 7am for three months.
Brown will have to pay £70 compensation to each of the doormen, a £50 fine, £60 court costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
